Miniaturization. The new hi-tech frontier?

New technologies are moving towards more compactness.
Miniaturization is the latest trend and ultra-light devices are impossible to find. Take a look at this a MacBook Air that was thrown out because it was buried in wastepaper.

I was about to buy one when I thought that perhaps I’d should reorganize my own desk first.
Ultra-small-mania began last summer, when the MID (Mobile Internet Device) was launched.
It’s based on ultra-slim Atom PC technology and, thanks to WiMAX, is being used worldwide offering people real time connections.

MID has spread like wildfire on the hi-tech scene inspiring many PC series. This phenomenon also dominated the most recent CEBIT exhibition in Hannover.

Asus’ answer to ultra-small is the Eee PC, a mini street PC.
The new version of the Asus Eee PC, which has been very successful, is better than the old one because it has 12 gigabytes of memory and a wider screen without altering its overall size.

This revolutionary “easy to work” device is not just for businesspeople but also for the rest of us thanks to its facilitated functions for chat, email and web 2.0 tools. I’ve seen one and it’s really no bigger than an old-fashioned agenda.

Competing with the Eee PC is the HP Compaq 2133, which weighs 1.2 kg and has an 8.9-inch screen. While there are some doubts about its CPU, it is equipped with Intel’s Ultra Mobile.

Nettop, Intel’s newest low-cost PC is coming out soon.
It’s a hybrid laptop- desktop PC. It could be a real revolution but first we’ll have to give it a try and see! The more I think about it, the more I ask myself, “are miniaturization and accessibility actually more useful?”
I think we should try them before buying them.
What do you think?
