Tal R revisits the Egg Chair
Tal R has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Egg Chair by recovering it with patchwork fabrics from his collection.
The Israeli-born artist has created handmade looks for the armchair that was designed by Arne Jacobsen for the Danish company Fritz Hansen.
The cult piece is still in production. Its enduring distinctive characteristics are fluidity, functionality, cocoon shape, magic, fertility, privacy and lightness.
Tal R says that “Inspiration is such a complex thing. When you’re happy you have a lot of energy but when you’re sad you’re much more observant. All feelings can and must be part of the artistic process and you’d better be grateful that we have this intangible and wonderful thing called feelings. It’s a carnival the Lord has given us.”
