Lively is online!

September 9th, 2008 - posted by Ducky

You’ve never seen me, have you? Well, here am I!
Actually, this is a virtual Ducky that I created on Lively, Google’s new 3D browser!

It’s very easy to use. You just download the software, log on through a Google account and get creative!

I can finally boast about having an avatar, as my experience on Second Life wasn’t very successful. I’ll leave it to my web engineer friends.

Shopping at a click

July 28th, 2008 - posted by Ducky

These days, the window-shopping has become a “mission impossible”.
You have to choose between the tropical climate on the city streets or the Antarctic temperatures in the malls.
There’s no in-between! That’s why online shopping is a real alternative.
And you can do it comfortably from your own home.

By pure luck, I found the Virtuy Mall website.
It’s a virtual shopping centre where everything is in 3-D. I’ve read that it’s the first of its kind in the entire world!
I was so curious that I clicked on the virtual map and entered a few stores. I found a myriad of things, even ultrasound rattraps and fermented papaya! I even found a record player, which is great because I still have some LPs I’d love to listen to!

Ikea Hacking

May 20th, 2008 - posted by Ducky

Have you ever been to Ikea on a Sunday afternoon?

You know, design - even at a low cost - can give a modern touch to a sad-looking home. All the more reason to resist the attack masses production.

I read about a blog that shows how to “hack” Ikea furniture!

By dissembling, cutting, removing, adding and re-assembling, you can personalize those standardized Ikea pieces.
These fans of “Made in Sweden” who, just like me, are against cloned houses, post their unusual ideas and explain how they modified Ikea furniture and turned it into something else.

Constantly looking for low-cost flights to NYC and intense weekends in the USA. These are certainly the causes of chronic jet lag. Well, I say enough!

Now you can see exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York comfortably and directly from your computer at home!

The first Metropolitan blog was launched in December 2007 by the outstanding blogger, Manolo Blahnik.

November 6th, 2007 - posted by Alessandro Leoni

Mandarina Duck shop onlineAlthough we’re a bit late with respect to the launch (8 October), I’m thrilled to announce that we have finally integrated the US and European e-commerce platforms.

It’s been a massive operation and we did it in 20 days after a full year of previous hard work. In fact, we’re exhausted. To help you understand the vast amount of work done, here’s some data:

-  two and half months of development;
- launched on American market on 1 July;
- available in five languages;
- more than 1,000 references managed;
- twenty-seven litres of coffee drunk.

The web at a glance

October 1st, 2007 - posted by Ducky

She plants a vineyardShe plants a vineyard is now a reference blog for USA women and Moms@Work, a non-profit ministry that supports working moms, couldn’t avoid recognizing it. It’s written by two American sisters who have already gone up the ladder and are both busy moms. Tina Ann Forkner and Cheri Kaufmann are “pens on the spot”: Tina is a full-time novelist working at home and Cheri works as an Artist music manager. Their blogroll is full of links to both readers’ and applicant writers’ blog sites.
American boys and dads… look out!

I Am FashionA very cosmopolitan, growing up female community, I Am Fashion is breaking out from the fringe of fashion.
Harrods girl and Barneys girl bring you fashion insiders, from fashionaholic London to ditzaholic Chicago insights.
“I don’t do fashion, I am fashion” by the muse Coco Chanel is their slogan and makes this blog a worldwide fashion guide.

Good luck to everybody for your blogging adventures!

Web TV – Shall we throw out the remote control?

September 24th, 2007 - posted by Massimo Venturini

“The Being Digital revolution, the shift from atoms to bits, is irreversible and unstoppable”.

This was a theory that used to sound like science fiction. It was propagated in that period when the RAI reigned over Italian TV and was always quarrelling with the new, private ‘heretic’ channels of Mediaset. When DOS was the most common operating system and Windows was a pioneer regarded with scepticism.

However, the prophecy of Negroponte (a modern Nostradamus) has now come true!

Current TV - an interactive Web TV channel started by Al Gore in 2005 – has just won a very coveted Emmy Award for best “interactive television services”.

Molting season for mandarinaduck.com

July 18th, 2007 - posted by Ducky

At Mandarina, there’s been a lot of fervent web activity lately! Everyone’s talking about websites, e-commerce, html codes, flash technology and databases! After our American landing, our new corporate website is being launched this Friday.

How many of you remember the first Mandarina website? It was so conceptual, meaningful and content-rich that our products were submersed. So, two years ago, we felt that our website should put greater emphasis on our products and our window on the world became a virtual showcase, a sort of electronic catalogue.

However, that’s not enough anymore. It’s essential that mandarinaduck.com has a well-defined, strong personality.

I’m currently in Detroit to define the last details before launching our new US e-commerce Shop.
The project is really ambitious, we want to establish our brand in a huge market, much more competitive and “mature” than the Italian and European counterparts.

July 2nd, 2007 - posted by Ducky

Pack your bags and win a trip to AustraliaI’ve just returned from Sardinia and I’m already itching to set off again. I was thinking about a trip to a really far-off country and Australia looks very tempting!

The “Pack your bags and win a trip to Australia” contest - in cooperation with Mandarina Duck - has just been launched on Lastminute.com.

First prize: win a set of ‘Flight’ luggage! You’ll get three tries at finding an airline ticket in a virtual suitcase.

Second prize: two tickets to Sydney with Emirates Airline! Get your friends to participate in the contest and you’ll be eligible for the final draw on 10 September 2007.

As well, all contest participates will receive a 5% discount on the purchase of a Mandarina Duck product from our online shop!

I’m going to try it! Australia is an amazing place!
