Mandarina Duck has always had a connection with contemporary art, which has been the inspiration for the moods our collections.
Our collections are filled with experimentation, new materials and unusual combinations, similar to paintings by Burri, which can be seen in the show “Burri, The measure of balance” at the Magnani Rocca Foundation in Parma until 2 December 2007.
An alternative but concrete vision of the modern world is being celebrated at MAMbo in Bologna until 4 November. Nam June Paik exalts daily life and modern icons such as Tv and Radio, while Rebecca Horn uses vinyl disks in an unusual way.
Andy Warhol and David LaChapelle have each interpreted Marylin Monroe, the quintessential pop icon, in their own way.
The former - “Pop Art! 1956-1968“, showing in Rome from 26 October 2007 - created the now famous image where colour and repetition are the main themes.
The latter - “David LaChapelle“, at the Royal Palace in Milan until 6 January 2008 - created a desecrated vision of the icon. Starting with Warhol’s work, David LaChapelle offers his own unabashed vision as if he’s challenging us to “look beyond“.
Mandarina does this too by always offering its own vision of things.
